SHANGHAI, Feb 7 (SMM) – Inventories of silicon metal across Huangpu port, Kunming city and Tianjin port declined 13,000 mt from January 23, and stood at 63,000 mt as of Friday February 7, according to SMM data. The decline was mainly due to a delay in data statistics at some warehouses pre-holiday. The actual cargo flows in and out of warehouses this week were limited amid extended holidays.
Huangpu port saw limited arrivals this week, with no shipments departing as the stockyards remained shut. Operations at warehouses at Tianjin port and Kunming were suspended and the resumption is scheduled next week. The recovery of warehouses will depend on the approval by local authorities.
SMM expects limited changes in social inventories of silicon next week. Near-term resumption of logistics may trigger an increase in stocks on concentrated arrivals of cargoes.
